Assessment 28/6/11 MCU

WWW
Good detail, you have identified the important elements of a music video.
You have evaluated your own work well.

EBI
You need to finish all your posts- where is your In The Sun work?
You should think more carefully about how you can make your posts visual- gat screen grabs to illustrate each point you make. An embedded video does not really show that you understand what you are stating.

Effort - IN (would be VG if all posts were done)

What makes a good music video

A good music video needs to be properly synced with the lyrics, avoid gaining viewer fatigue and using a variety of shots to keep the video looking interesting and keep the viewer interested.

Having the lip sync good is very important because if it seemed out of time it would become clear to the viewer that it is a lip sync but also it would look weird on the screen hearing the words and then afterwards seeing the singers mouth move trying to show the words. If this was to happen then the viewer would not be as interested in the music video as it would be clear that they did not try to make the video look right or successful.

If during a music video the audience begin to get bored with what they are seeing, this is called viewer fatigue. It is important that during a music video the audience does not gain viewer fatigue because if they do they will not want to watch any more, making it an un-successful music video. To avoid gaining viewer fatigue it is important that there are a kot of different camera angles, ranges in shot length- short and long clips, but also not always just showing the group/singer just standing there singing, but using a lot of different locations and have cut-aways with the people actually doing somehting interesting rather than just playing/singing the song.

Free Choice-Own Lip Sync

WWW:
1) The lip sync was good and it seemed all really well in time which is important so that it looks like we are doing the song rather then miming.
2) Managed to have a lot of different shots throughout which was important because it prevents viewer fatigue and keep the video looking interesting.
3) Had a good variety of different shot types and angles which is important to have because the viewer would get bored very quickly looking at just one shot for too long.

EBI:
1) Use more locations because it was all in one place and it would have looked more interesting if there were more locations.
2) Better lighting because it is sometimes not clear as to what is going on in the shot because the lighting is making it difficult to see what is happening.
3) learn the sonngs on the instrumets properly before so it looks like we are playing along as well so i is all properly synced.
